Life update- Time is a valuable thing

7 Nov

Hello friends,

Long time no see! Its my fault, I know. I just wanted to let you know I’m still here and kicking. There’s been a lot of changes in the past few months and a lot of things that need my attention.

Here’s the DL:

  • I got a new job in August which means real responsibilities and a real time commitment. I LOVE my new job as an internet marketing coordinator (thank you God!).
  • Weight loss saga- Still kicking. Everytime I think about posting I think, well maybe I should go to the gym. Usually I get distracted by the pets, then I just stay home and do neither. Which brings me to my next excuse:
  • Pets- Why are they so cute? Every time I think about leaving them or working on this the pets (or the husband) seem to get this sad look on their face and I get distracted.

I know it doesn’t seem like a lot. But I work hard at work and then manage the household on the weekends. I’m trying to get back into the habit of blogging, working out and taking care of the pets and cooking and juggling all of those tasks seems to be impossible some days. And I almost forgot, I FINALLY have some friends here in Syracuse, so now the social calendar gets tangled in there as well (and I’m thankful for that!). How does anyone do it? I’m not sure.

I’m always trying to do more, read more, exercise more, cook more, spend time with my husband more and educate myself more. I’m just going to need to prioritize and make time for what matters most first.

When I start to feel stressed about the little time I have, I start to think of what it must be like to have kids (that isn’t too far away you know). What does everyone else do in the world?

Cleaning- an art that has been learned

7 Nov

I come to you today victorious. You may remember my last post, quite awhile ago about being not the cleanest person in the whole world. Today I can tell you that we did it. We threw our heads into the books cleaning closet and came up empowered with the skills to wrangle our jeans into the hamper and slap the dishes with some suds and h2o. And the best part is WE ARE ALIVE! Yes, it was hard but I am here to report to you that the younger version of me who used to have a layer of clothes on the floor 1 foot deep in my teenage years no longer exists. Today I am a woman who takes pride in a clean house.

Here’s how it works.

Every Saturday Chris and I have a list. It includes

  • Grocery shopping and farmers market
  • Vacuum rugs and wood floors
  • Scoop the Cat box
  • Clean the bathroom (toilet, tub, sink and mirror)
  • Take all laundry downstairs and sort into loads
  • Start laundry brigade, put away laundry as it comes back upstairs (that was a hard one)
  • Empty trash cans
  • Dust
And thats it. I come to you from the other side to tell you this very important message: Cleaning is NOT painful. Just do it and then you’ll have a house that gives you that squeaky clean feeling you love. It only takes an hour between the two of us, so go ahead and put your feet up afterwards.
Warning: Husbands may get distracted. Clear the surfaces of all distractions before hand (i.e. mail that needs to be sorted, toy helicopters, ipads and motor trend magazines).
